2019 Appeal Using Music therapy to find the person behind the dementia
Current: Using Music therapy to find the person behind the dementia -> Personal Information -> Billing -> Confirm your payment -> Finish

Dementia affects 50 million people worldwide.

There is currently no cure for dementia. Pharmacological treatments that help manage the symptoms of the disease often come with significant side effects. For the past 12 years, Professor Felicity Baker and her team have been researching how music could ease the burden of dementia on people.

Through a face to face pilot study, they have found that once family carers were taught how to use music strategically, they were able to use this to care for their loved one living with dementia. Music has the unique power to increase mood, provide mental stimulation, and reduce behavioural disturbances.

Your gift will support research into Music Therapy for Dementia, including the development of a mobile app that carers can use to learn how to integrate music into caring for their loved one.

Please help us make a difference today!

Any amount will help family carers to be able to witness the power of music and allow them to reconnect with a loved one who they thought was slipping away before their own eyes.
